Lookbook: Opalhouse

Last month I alerted you that Target is launching a new home brand called Opalhouse. And now, the official lookbook is here.

“Opalhouse is another perfect example of how Target offers our guests incredible design and great quality at a truly unbeatable value. That’s something you can find only at Target,” says Mark Tritton, Target’s executive vice president and chief merchandising officer. “With the addition of Opalhouse, our guests will have access to more aesthetics than ever, giving them the opportunity to discover items that reflect their individuality and style, bringing joy to their homes in an easy, affordable way.”

On April 8th, the Opalhouse Spring collection—with more than 1,300 pieces across bedding, bath, décor, tabletop and furniture—will be available in all Target stores and on Target.com. But in the meantime, you can check out the full lookbook to pick out your favorite must-have items.

Target Debuts New Line of Swimsuits w/o Airbrushing...

People Magazine reports that Target is continuing their promise to keep swimsuit ads free of reshaping or airbrushing with their new 2018 campaign.

The retailer debuted their new line of suits — with over 1,700 different styles — and stayed away from overly editing their models. Target says in a press release that it’s all part of their goal to celebrate womens’ bodies.

“To show off the new styles you’ll see bright, vibrant images throughout our marketing campaign — all meant to inspire guests to have fun while rocking their favorite swimsuit,” they announced. “Something you won’t see? Reshaping or airbrushing. Building on the strong foundation we set with last year’s campaign, we’re celebrating women and encouraging them to embrace the beauty of their own bodies.”

Target first went airbrushing-free with their 2017 swimsuit ads, which featured model and body activist Denise Bidot, dancer Megan Batoon, pro skateboarder Lizzie Armanto and TV host and model Kamie Crawford. This came after the brand was mocked for a photoshop flub in 2014 on a swimsuit model. The badly-done editing left the model with an extra-long arm, and a missing hip and crotch.

Sale Alert: La Roche-Posay

If you're already a fan of - or been wanting to try - luxury skincare line La Roche-Posay, head on over to Target this week. They've got almost the entire line on sale, from moisturizers and cleansers to serums and suncreens, at buy 1/get 1 25% off. What I like about La Roche-Posay is that most of their products are phthalate and paraben free - with no added fragrance - making them ideal for sensitive skin. I'm going to take advantage of the sale to try their Effaclar BB Blur Fair/Light, Oil-Absorbing Face Cream Mousse with Sunscreen (shown here) which is very highly rated on Target.com.

Back at Target: The Wedge Zip Espadrille

If you've been a fan of the Merona "Meredith" wedge espradrille, I've got good news! Despite retiring the Merona brand, Target is bringing this style back under the Mossimo Supply Co. brand as the "Emilee" sandal.  This popular shoe is actually a dupe of a past Michael Kors style from 2014, which Target kept bringing back each year and renamed the "Ruth" in 2017. My one gripe is that the Mossimo version only comes in one color - a neutral light tan fabric - but hopefully they'll add more colors later on this Spring.

Target Planning More Store Remodels...

Target is speeding up their store remodeling plans, with 2018 bringing nearly triple the number of remodels. This is part of their effort to reimagine more than 1,000 stores across the country by the end of 2020.

According to A Bullseye View, Target is tailoring each remodel to meet the specific needs of local guests, so no two remodels will look exactly the same. And to stay true to their sustainability efforts, they'll continue to add features like LED lighting and solar panels to many stores—efforts that have helped more than 80% of stores to become Energy Star certified.

Other plans include adding music in the background, a more modern design aesthetic across the store, and enhanced merchandise presentations, including areas that showcase trends and top-of-mind products for the season. Many stores will have features that help them get online orders to guests even faster, like a bigger Order Pickup counter or a Drive Up lane in the parking lot. I personally have noticed the addition of more self-checkout lanes at my local stores, as well as re-vamped grocery sections illustrated in the before/after pics shown here.

What's your take, readers? Have you noticed whether your local store has been remodeled, and if so, do you like the changes?
